February 23, 2013 - The free Oscar-Nominated Art Directors Seminar is taking place at the Egyptian Theatre today

The free Oscar-Nominated Art Directors Seminar is taking place at the Egyptian Theatre!  The event starts at 3:00 p.m. and seating is on a first come, first served basis.  Arrive early.  Those scheduled to attend include:

• Production designer Eve Stewart and set decorator Anna Lynch-Robinson will discuss Les Misérables.

•  Production designer Dan Hennah, set decorator  Ra Vincent and set decorator/art director Simon Bright will discuss The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

•  Production designer David Gropman and set decorator Anna Pinnock will discuss Life of Pi.

• Production designer Rick Carter and set decorator Jim Erickson will discuss Lincoln.

• Production designer Sarah Greenwood and set decorator Katie Spencer will discuss Anna Karenina.

August 15, 2012 - Bigger, Faster, Stronger, Stranger: The Science of Hollywood Superheroes panel in Beverly Hills tonight

Don't Try This at Home! The Physics of Hollywood Movies author Adam Weiner is hosting Bigger, Faster, Stronger, Stranger: The Science of Hollywood Superheroes tonight at 7:30 PM!  General admission is $5.00, but tickets are only $2.00 after service fees here.  The panel will be shown clips from various superhero films and then discuss the science behind the characters and scenes.  The panel includes:

• Visual effects artist Spencer Cook who worked on Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3 and Blade.

• Zack Stentz who wrote the screenplays for Thor and X-Men: First Class.

•  Scientists E. Paul Zehr and Sean B. Carroll (who was also an advisor on Thor) will also be on the panel giving their insight.

January 14, 2012 - See Angelina Jolie & Pedro Almodóvar discuss their movies FREE today in Hollywood

Today there's a Golden Globe discussion panel with the directors of the Foreign-Language nominees for Best Picture!  Scheduled to appear at this free event are Angelina Jolie (nominated for In the Land of Blood and Honey), Pedro Almodóvar (nominated for The Skin I Live In), Yimou Zhang (nominated for The Flowers of War), Jean-Pierre Dardenne and Luc Dardenne (both nominated for The Kid with a Bike) and Asghar Farhadi (nominated for The Separation).

While this event is free, the Egyptian Theatre has 1,770 seats, so you'll want to get there early.  The event starts at 1:00 PM, but fans can start lining up at 10:00 a.m.  The historic Egyptian Theatre is located at 6712 Hollywood Boulevard and directions can be found here.
